Why do certain individuals think that fungi is a type of bacteria?

The same reason some people worry about ';the E. coli virus.';

Most people are rather ignorant of science since they never really use it.Why do certain individuals think that fungi is a type of bacteria?
Fungi does have a tendency to act like bacteria in certain ways, though there are vast differences.

A sinus infection is usually caused by bacteria, but scientists are finding out more and more that a chronic, or long lasting infection is sometimes actually a fungus instead.Why do certain individuals think that fungi is a type of bacteria?
in my opinion, they think that a fungi is a bacteria because people always prefer organisms that is harmful to them as bacteria or virus.
Public ignorance... It's a common myth, and most people don't really appreciate the difference between lesser organisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi, protists).
