Fungi structure and its relation to its mode of nutrition?

please help me, i'm a little stumped on my biology assignment.

It says: The basic fungal structure is one of long, slender, branched, filaments forming a mycelium. Considering the fungal mode of nutrition, explain why fungi have this kind of structural geometry.

if anyone has any ideas or websites that can help i'd really appreciate it!Fungi structure and its relation to its mode of nutrition?
the mycelium are basically the way fungi branches out. By branching out, it can more easily obtain more nutrients and spread its spores.
